I know when the doc gives you medicine you're supposed to finish it as prescribed or it may not be effective, but I'm questioning the meds our pedi gave me this time. I took L in on Friday because her left eye had been gunked up for 3 days and I thought it might be conjunctivitis, which I'm very prone to. The week before she had a fever and stayed home from day care but it only lasted one day. Her eyes aren't red, she isn't scratching them, and she's had absolutely no runny nose or congestion.
The doctor looked in her ears and throat and said her sinuses were probably blocked and it was causing her eyes to water. He prescribed us eye drops as well as a week's round of decongestant, the same one we've gotten in the past for really bad colds. The first day I gave her everything. The second day I just did the eye drops. Now her eye looks fine and she never seemed stuffed up in the first place, so I feel weird continuing with the decongestant. WWYD?
Re: WWYD Prescription Medicine
You should always finish a course of antibiotics unless the doctor informs you otherwise because it can lead to development of resistance to the antibiotic. That is part of the reason why we have the superbugs that are getting more difficult to treat.
