High chair advice

Baby girl is only 2 months but we are about to move overseas so I need to purchase the high chair now. I am totally overwhelmed. I have thought about the keekaroo or the graco blossom but am open to other suggestions. Do you have a high chair you love? Why? Is it worth getting one that converts to toddler chair?

Re: High chair advice

  • I have the Graco blossom and I really like it. Can't speak to whether or not it's worth getting one that converts to a toddler chair because DS just sits in the regular high chair configuration of the seat. I like that there are options for different configurations down the road.

I've washed the seat cover and straps lots of times and it holds up great and is easy to put back on.

  • I have a Bright Starts Ingenuity Perfect Place & Love It!

I've had it for over & year...so it's taken a lot of abuse.  The top tray can be washed in the dishwasher....so it's perfect now that DS feeds himself.  The pad & straps all come off super easy & are machine washable, plus the pad can be wiped clean easily after each use. The entire seat is very easy to clean.

You can open it one handed. It swings out still attached to the chair. It makes life so much easier.  My mom has the Fisher Price Space Saver at her house & getting the tray back on with an active LO is harder than you'd think. I LOVE this feature.

It reclines (great for smaller babies), has wheels (so it's easy to move from room to room), and has the leg stop (between the legs) on the chair, so LO is secure inside of the chair. It also folds pretty easy.

I actually got it because the colors were nice & went well with my dining room. I was shocked when I got it because it was the easiest baby item ever to put together-no tools required.

  • We haven't used our Keekaroo yet but DH built it to show his dad who purchased it for us.

the quality of it is wonderful! DH said it was one of the sturdiest, well made pieces he's ever put together. I obviously don't know if there will be little nuisances with it when we use it on a daily basis, but as far as looks and quality goes, I think it's great.

  • How about the FP space saver? It is cheap, takes up less space and you can use it for infants and toddlers.

Second this. We have a traditional high chair but my ILs have this one. It really feels like DD is sitting right at the table with us. She prefers it.

A high chair really isn't something where you need a lot of bells and whistles.

Agreed.  I would have gotten the FP instead of the Bright Starts one I mentioned (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bright-Starts-InGenuity-Perfect-Place-High-Chair-Bellavista/15126395) except we have a bar height table.  Bright Starts also has a space saver that I saw at BBB that might be worth checking out (if it has a tray like mine). We're planning on getting a regular height table for when DS2 needs the high chair (luckly the the height is adjustable to go with diff tables) & we will be getting this for DS1:

Simple & easy to clean is better. :)

  • Why do you need to get the high chair before moving?

I'd get the Ikea Antilop one, easy to put together, clean and it's not expensive at all.

  • Another recommendation for the space-saver type chair.  It's more compact for storage and moving and can transition into a booster for an older toddler.

We are moving to Africa and there is little available locally and what is will be much more expensive. We are sending a shipment next week. We can get mail but I think the high chair may be bigger than our regulations.

You don't miss the features of a larger chair? I like the idea of rolling it from room to room. In the kitchen when I cook or at the dining room table. Space isn't an issue in our house or for the move. I just have to ship ahead of time.
