I posted previously about how difficult it was for one of my boys to transition from his RnP to his crib. Just want to follow up to let you know that we turned a corner to give hope to those who go through this. With time and consistency, it happened.
3 weeks ago, DH & I decided it was time to transition the boys since they are getting so long. Our goal was to get the boys to sleep in their cribs for their first night's stretch those first few days and then keep adding a stretch until they are in the cribs all night. Dylan slept in his crib starting the first night, no issues. Ryan woke up every 1/2 hour to hour and didn't want any part of it. We ended up putting Ryan in his crib for the fist 2 weeks for 3 hours a night (usually rocking him back to sleep every 1/2 hour to hour during this time) before we gave up and put him back in the RnP so that we can all sleep. Then, this past Sunday he finally just slept 4 hours straight in the crib. The next night DH & I committed to getting him to stay in the crib all night. It involved rocking him back to sleep for up to an hour after each MOTN feeding. It was rough. The next night, it only took 1/2 hour to get him back down each time. By the third night it only took 15 minutes and he only woke up once in the MOTN to eat!!! My goal is to pack away his RnP by this weekend and call him transitioned. Hang in there ladies, with consistency and patience, eventually they get it.
Now if I can just get them to nap during the day at the same time. sigh
