Trying to Get Pregnant

DH had bad results on SA.

Everything for me came back normal. DH had his SA done and motility is low and only 2 % of the sperm were normal. So disappointing. I cried the whole way home. They are referring him to a urologist/fertility specialist for further treatment to possibly turn it around. I just feel so defeated. I really was not expecting this.

Sorry for the miserable post. I am sure that others have it worse. Just needed to go somewhere to vent. Thanks for listening.

  • So sorry about your DH's results. That must be so frustrating to hear! Hopefully others will chime in with similar results where things worked out okay. There are at least some normal sperm, so there is at least some hope.

Best of luck for everything, and I'm sorry about this news for you.

    All Welcome
  • I'm sorry you have to deal with this.  I've been exactly where you are and I know how scary it feels.  MFI usually means lots of waiting, but there are plenty of options out there.  A good urologist can really make a difference.  You should also be looking for a RE too.  It might be helpful to intro over on the tttc board.  There's also a weekly check-in every Sunday in the Infertility board for MFI.

  • I'm in the exact same boat so I know how you feel.  We've done 3 SAs - MH's morphology is only 2-3% and motility went from 28% - 43% with no explanation from urologist and no treatments available to him.

I never expected it either and cried for days when we found out.  Hugs to you and your husband.

FWIW - We've started looking into acupuncture for DH and he's been doing yoga with me for a few months now.  As crazy as it may sound, his numbers went up after those months of yoga.

MH was also taking supplements - fish oil, vitamins, protein powder after workouts, etc.  As soon as we got his first SA back I went through the house and ALL of it went into the garbage.  Our RE recommends a multi-vitamin for him but nothing that says "Men's formula" - I forget the exact reason but men's formula has something in it that isn't great for sperm.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

  • I'm so sorry. My dh had low sperm count. The first thing you new uro should do is order a repeat test to be sure there's a problem. I recommend you ask for a paper copy of the test so you can read it for yourself. Do not lose hope! The doctor may find the culprit and easily be fixed. Sadly, it takes about 2 months for any improvement to show in semen. Here's an article on morph. https://www.maledoc.com/blog/2010/04/18/themysteriesoffunnylookingsperm/

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.
