Trying to Get Pregnant

From the mouths of kids...

This is a legit conversation DH, DS2 and myself had a few minutes ago:

DH: "Are you going to hold the new baby when she comes"
DS: "She'll be too heavy"
Me" "Zaine, babies aren't that heavy"
DS: "What if she weighs 200 pounds?"
DH: "The biggest she'll be is 9 or 10 pounds"
Me: "You want THAT to come out of my cervix?!?!"

Oh, kids...

Re: From the mouths of kids...

  • Haha! Here's hoping you don't have a 200lb baby!

Yes I have a fear of having a big baby. The only part of labor I'm terrified of is the rippin' and the tearin' lol. My sister naturally delivered a 9 lb.14 oz, 22.5 inch long baby. Fingers crossed I don't suffer the same fate! ::shudders:: That's terrifying.

That's how much I weighed!! My poor mother..

DS1 was 7lbs14.6oz 20in long with a 14.75in head and 15in chest. DS2 was 8lbs even, 21in long, his head and chest were both 12inches.

DS was 7 lb 12 oz when he was born. He was expected to be no more than 7 pounds even, based on my weight before and during my pregnancy (I hadn't gained even 30 pounds by the time I gave birth), but I had gestational diabetes with him.
He was also measuring behind at every ultrasound, and when my belly was measured, I was usually behind, so it was definitely unexpected that he would be bigger than an average sized baby.

I believe that if you have a healthy pregnancy (I had gestational diabetes, so technically not the healthiest, but my body did it, although I had help with a vacuum in the end), your body can push any sized baby out!

Going by your siggy, I think you meant 8lbs12oz. That's a big baby. DH was 10lbs8oz. I was only 5lbs15oz.

    ETA: To bold weight.

ETA #2: Reading fail. It's been one of those days. 7lbs12oz is actually average.

  • My fear is also delivering a big baby. DH was 5lbs and I was 6lbs hoping for a small baby. My Bff had a 10 lb 21inches long and had a bad tear, the thought makes me cringe

  • This is so cute! I love the family conversation.

I'm so scared of having a big baby. DH is 6'9" and weighs just under 300lbs. I know he was over 8lbs when he was born and 20in long, which isn't huge, but his head was 10cm. I was 6lbs 4oz and 21in. I wouldn't be so scared, but everytime I have my pap my Dr. tells me I have a small ute and certvix. She says this will change with pregnancy, but I'm still terrified. I'm such a baby when it comes to pain.

  • Ds was 6 lbs 8 oz and I only pushed for an hour. I lucked out and only ended up with a second degree tear and everything went back to normal. I definitely hope our next lo isn't any bigger. I don't know how ladies with big babies do it.
