FET Q for those who miscarried or had a baby

We lost Baby B. We might be losing Baby A as well. Dh and I want to jump right back into trying regardless. If Baby A holds on we want to try again right away after bith. How long do you have to wait after delivering to try again? Can you BF through it or do you have to stop? If Baby A miscarries as well, how long you have to wait after that before trying again? We have frozen eggs left so we will be doing a FET.

IF sucks in so many ways. Not only do I feel like I'll be on pins and needles until actually holding a baby now but I can't even really mourn this loss because we have to jump right back into the stupid world of IF or having one baby without his twin.

I'm sorry you are going through all this.

It will depend on your RE, but most require weaning before cycling again for better control of your hormones. If your post partum cycles don't return on their own, you'll need to wean down enough so they do, otherwise they can't get the necessary cd3 bloodwork. We called our RE right before DS turned one and I weaned about 3 months before starting FET because I needed more surgery.

My RE told me that I could do a FET as soon as my cycles came back after birth. I never asked after my miscarriages but my obgyn said we could start trying again after I had one normal cycle (which took 2-3 months for me, although some women get their cycle back in 4 weeks like clockwork). I didn't breastfeed so that wasn't an issue for us.

I'm sorry for your loss and that you're still facing the loss of another baby.

First I want to say again that I am so very sorry for your loss of Baby B, and I am sending tons of thoughts and prayers that Baby A pulls through. I haven't had a vanishing twin, but I have suffered two losses myself. I hate that you are even thinking about this. If you do end up m/c, it depends on your RE to say how quickly you can do a FET. My RE made me wait three cycles before cycling again. However, I know that many REs will let you cycle again as soon as your beta is at zeo. Only your body will decide how long that takes. If you end up carrying a singleton to term, then you will have to wait longer before cycling. My RE wanted me to wean before starting a FET. Again, that is something you will have to discuss with your RE. I would try to avoid planning when you want to start TTC again after having a baby. It is so hard to predict what life will be like with a new baby. The good news is that if you do end up carrying Baby A to term then you have many months to figure that out. (((((hugehugs)))))

I'm so sorry for the loss of Baby B. I'm hoping your little Baby A is a fighter. As far as waiting after a m/c, I was told three full cycles by my RE. However, my 23 remaining embryos never made it to freeze, so I don't have FET experience. As far as ttc after a delivery, I know I'm not allowed to cycle again until after one year. But, a big part of that is due to my c/s.

Thanks. I know only my RE will be able to tell me for sure but I appreciate getting a general idea. Unfortunately, we have to think like this because I need a hysterectomy for other (non-IF related) medical reasons so we won't have much time to try before we will out of the game completely.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I hope you LO is sticky.

I was still EBF DS when we got our BFP. I noticed pretty big dip in my supply. I then started to mc and had a D&C-it was about a 3 day process. My supply really suffered and I ended up completely weaning about a month later.

We went to see our RE the week after our mc and he told me I had to wait one cycle and be completly weaned before starting tx again. It took 8 weeks for AF to return. GL!

I'm so sorry for your loss. My RE had us wait at least a cycle before trying again after a loss. Best of luck and hope that Baby A pulls through.
