Here's the issue..... I tested this morning 2nd urine of the day but the test didn't soak up anything. I had peed in a cup for the test so i quickly re inserted the tip for until i could see it start soaking it up. So it took a while to even get a control line.... So when I did and that was the only line I didn't think " duh...the whole test took forever so wait a while to see if the other line appears" so I just tossed it. Now about 3 hrs later I emptied that garbage and there's a faint second line. I'm going to test again tomorrow morning I guess. I just had to vent and see if anyone else had an experience like this.

It's considered invalid if you check it outside of the time on the directions.

It's probably an evap line. Before I knew about the evils of blue dye tests, I took one when when DH and I first started dating and had a condom mishap. A line showed up after about 30 minutes and about made my heart stop, but it was just an evap line.
The test is invalid, never read the results after the 10 minute mark. Test again in the morning.

Yes OP, if you used a blue dye test, go get a pink dye test and try again tomorrow.

If the test didn't soak up the urine right away, it was probably a defective test to begin with.

Thank you for those explaining the evap line. I was using a test with the pink lines so I'm not sure if I will stick with that or try a different brand.

Marjorie go find an app for apparently miserable and immature people. I asked a question looking to see if this experience was common. And clearly it has happened to others.

Use a First Response Early Response test in the morning when you pee first thing.
When you check outside the test timeline, you can see a line but it's not a "true" positive.
I'm sorry you had confusing results with your test. This is why I buy them in bulk from Amazon -- I can just stick another one in the cup if the first doesn't seem to work properly.

I took my first test 10dpo and I saw the faintest of lines but it was after the time limit. Held my pee for about 2 hrs and tested again. A faint, faint line came up but once again it was past the time limit.

I ended up testing the next morning and there was no doubt!
