How many turned out normal w/PGD testing?

I had 27 retrieved, 14 fertilized, 12 are dividing on day 3. Of those 12, 3 are excellent, 3 are good and the rest are dividing but not properly. PGD testing is being done today, as my clinic does not offer day 5 PGD testing.

For those of you that had PDG with IVF, could you share with me how many ended up being normal? I have a history of recurrent early losses, and my RE is convinced it is due to poor egg quality, especially since I had such a large number of immature eggs for this cycle. This is my first IVF.

If I have any that are normal, we will be doing ET on Monday.

I didn't do PGD, I did PGS. We did the PGS on embryos that we had frozen, there were 7 total that were thawed and biopsied and sent for the testing. Of those 7, 3 were abnormal, 4 were considered chromosomally normal. We had a total of 10 after my IVF. We had transferred one, the ended in a CP. Then we did a FET, that ended at 8 weeks, a missed mc. This is why we ended up doing the PGS on the remaining 7. We were nervous about them being refrozen and then thawed again for transfer, but so far so good. GL! Hope everything goes well.

I've had 4 IVF cycles, 2 with 3-day PGD (had 9 one cycle and 11 on the other sent for testing with a subsequent fresh transfer), each time only 2 were normal. I had an early miscarriage on my first transfer and an ectopic on my second transfer. I had another 2 cycles with 5-day PGS, thinking that many of the ones that tested abnormal on day 3 would have "self-corrected". It unfortunately wasn't the case with the same rate of 2 normals each cycle. I think I had 8 or so make it to a blastocyst by day 6 (we combined to pay for a single testing and then froze them for a future FET in March. I had 4 normals total (so sticking with the 2 normals each cycle regardless of how many eggs I got) but my egg quality (grades) are less than optimal. Keep in mind some of my highest grades had complex abnormalities and would have resulted in a miscarriage had they implanted. The only explanation my doctor gives me is that my eggs have aged significantly at 34 years old (much more than he would expect at that age). I think I read that, at around my age, they'd only expect a 40% abnormal rate. Hopefully you'll have more to work with than me and that this works out for you. Cliche, I know, but it only takes one. Sounds like you're well on your way and my guess is you'll have some normals to transfer. I'll have my fingers crossed for you. I wish you the very best and please keep up posted.

We did 5 day pgd testing. Out of our 11 embryose, 3 were abnormal. My RE is hoping this was also my problem for 3 of my losses because everything else checks out.

IVF # 3 : Started with 17 embryos > 1 normal

IVF # 4 : Started with 23 embryos > 1 normal

We did day 5/6 biopsies and sent to Reprogenetics. I'm an old gal (39) so don't let my numbers scare you .

We haven't transferred yet, but we plan on thawing both normals and transferring in May/June.

Thank you everyone for sharing. My RE warned me that even though my embryos look beautiful now, there is still a chance that they might be abnormal. I am certainly trying to manage my expectations.

Zero. Both previous cycles resulted in 100% abnormal eggs. I am also 41. (See siggy.) My last RE recommended I did NOT get genetic testing last cycle. We chose to anyway. My new RE also does not recommend the testing, stating that with as few eggs as I produce, he is concerned that the testing process itself may be damaging the embryos. We have until about Tuesday to make our decision whether or not we will test this cycle. It is a tough decision. Good luck to you!
