Trying to Get Pregnant

DH's kidney stone procedure.

DH has a large kidney stone that's going to require medical intervention. So, in the last week, he's had 2 X-rays and an MRI, all of his pelvic region. Anyone know what affect this would have on his sperm? Should we be TTA for a few weeks?

DH went to all the appointments by himself, and didn't think to ask his urologist.

Re: DH's kidney stone procedure.

  • My understanding is that it can affect production, but that's not any reason to TTA.

I tend not to worry about occasional xrays in general, personally.

I wouldn't worry too much. If I remember correctly MRIs don't expose you to too much radiation...apparently a lot less than a CT scan. If you're really concerned have your DH ask the doctors office. But I'm sure they'll tell you it's fine.

    Anniversary

  • Just wanted to say I hope your DH recovers quickly and this doesn't impact TTC this cycle. You should call the urologist (or have him call) with any questions you still have. Again good luck to your hubby, and I hope he feel better soon.

Thank you! He's actually feeling OK today, he really only has pain when the stone is moving. I'm going to have him follow up with his urologist on Monday morning, just to be sure.
