Hello ladies! When I had DD by emergency C-section 4 years ago, they only kept me 48 hours. I was seriously ready to get home. When my Mom had me 26 years ago almost, she was in for a week and when she found out they were dismissing me, she went and talked to the charge nurse because she thought I should be in longer. They told her that since all my vitals were fine, no fever, the baby was doing good, they were sending me home. I have seen a lot of changes in those 4 years with everything baby related so I am just wondering how long you ladies have been in the hospital following your C-section?

Re: How long does your hospital keep you after a CS?
5 nights with DD1, but that was partly because they were still monitoring me because of the HELLP and partly because I was in no hurry to go home because DD1 was in the NICU.
4 nights with DD2, although they gave me the option of going home after 3. My MW advised against it, though, saying I would do more at home than in the hospital and should give myself an extra day to get BFing help and stay off my feet.

Back in those days, they kept you longer, you can call it our health care system/insurance running the medical industry, or advancement in medicine. My mom was kept in hospital for 5 days for vaginal delivery. Still in many countries they keep you a full week for the CS.
wow.... that's disgusting.
'let' other people do it..... Awesome mom!!

I went into labor Monday night, checked into the hospital Tuesday morning, and finally had lo at 9:30 Tuesday night. We left at noon on Friday, so 3 nights.
By law medical insurance has to allow three or four nights post-surgery, so most hospitals do that. Remember, it also gives the pediatrician an extra day to monitor the baby.
With DD#1, I stayed 4. I had pre-e, and had been through a lot, and DD was a little jaundiced. Everyone felt better with the extra day, and I had no one at home waiting for me, so was happy to stay. With DD#2 they thought I'd want the fourth night given the pain I had been in (tougher recovery -- I had a lot of scar tissue), but I was anxious to get home to my other daughter and asked to go home after the three nights and they let me.
With this one, I am planning on the three nights, but know I need to be prepared for four in case baby or I need it.
Pre-e w/DD #1 -- now age four! GD and PIH w/DD#2 -- now age two! GD and unexplained third trimester bleeding with baby # 3 -- due Feb 27!
