Geesh. A woman at church last week told me that I have it easier with twins "in a lot of ways". Oh really? What ways would that be? She gave the ol' "they keep each other entertained" comment. I have heard this many times before from people who don't have twins. Come on people.
Re: Comment
That exact comment makes me want to ask them to babysit over night! Tell me how much easier it is then!

Ugh, I want to throw up when people say that. Like oh yeah - they are over playing with each other happily all day and I can just paint my nails and watch Oprah.
They keep each other entertained by seeing who can keep my attention the most!!! Screaming, mischief or just plain cuteness!

Yes, mine often entertain each other by snatching toys away from each other, stepping on each other's heads, and using their combined efforts to pull down the baby gate. So much easier.
When I hear that one I usually just laugh and say in my most cheerful voice, "You have no idea."
I like that response....I am using it next time!

I'd have bailed you out!!
Me to!!!
Yeah, ya know... just do it twice, how simple do we have it as MoMs... ? People are so ridiculous!
You gals are awesome!
You guys are really making me excited
I absolutely HATED that comment when my twins were little. I seriously would start arguing with the person. It annoyed me to my core.
As an encouragement, however, it DOES get easier once they are old enough to hold conversations and play together nicely. I think for us it was around 3 years old. Of course, there is always some amount of drama and fighting, but the company they give each other and the built in best friend aspect is amazing, and made all those baby/toddler years totally worth it!
But until then, those comments are stupid and downplay how hard it is to care for two tiny people at once who think the entire world revolves around them only. Chin up! You will be rewarded for your efforts one day.
Exactly!! There are days when they play together well for *maybe* up to half an hour at a time but most of the time when they are "entertaining" each other I have to referee every 1.3 minutes.
I realize some twins play together well from a much earlier age, but it's certainly not a guarantee. The built-in best friend thing is also not guaranteed. It often works out that way, fortunately (and I certainly hope my boys will always be close) but I've known some adult twins who hate each other or are just not all that close. One of the workers at the gym childcare told me her least favorite thing about being a (ID) twin is that everyone assumes she and her sister are BFFs when really, they just don't get along that well.
"Reading" to each other? Gahhhhh that's ADORABLE. Can't wait for those cute brotherly moments
