How was your LO diagnosed with a milk protein sensitivity? Here's our issue...
When my DS was about three weeks old, he started screaming after every bottle I was EP. I cut out dairy for two weeks and saw no change I know that may not have been long enough, and our pedi said his symptoms of crying, arching his back and acidic smell on his breath suggested acid reflux. We tried Zantac and saw no improvement, so switched to Prevacid. Saw an immediate improvement, but after a few weeks symptoms returned to his dose was upped to 2ml twice a day. He's been doing great for almost two months! We also now have him on Enfamil AR to try to reduce the instances of the milk coming back up as much as possible.
Well, about a week ago, his symptoms began to return, but only after late afternoon and evening bottles...and only sometimes. We decided to go see a GI specialist after having an Upper GI done, and he said he thinks it may be a milk protein sensitivity instead of reflux. I'm not sure it makes sense...he has no other signs/symptoms of this, other than occasional fussiness and gassiness, and the Prevacid has helped a lot. What do you think?
He wants us to put him on Nutrimagen, but I don't want to if we don't have to...I hate that the first ingredient is corn syrup solids...45...gross. Of course we will if this is truly what he needs, but his symptoms are so inconsistent...I just want him to be consistently happy and comfortable! Thoughts?

My son had the same symptoms you described. Almost immediately after we came home from the hospital is when it began and every week it got a little worse. He was bf/ff from day one but was exclusively on similac advance formula after about a week due to some issues I had. We tried similac sensitive for a while and that helped a bit but not entirely. I tried everything. I bought all kinds of bottles to ease his gas and I was giving him round the clock gripe water. Around 5 weeks he began to scream during his bottles. He also had a rash on his forehead and was constipated. He would go 3 days without pooping and when he did it was watery. Pedi said these are all normal things but I knew it was something more.
At 6 weeks I switched him to similac alimentum and he was a new baby. He began to poop everyday, poop had more consistency, his rash went away and he drank his bottles with a smile on his face. No more gassiness too. I reported back to pedi and she confirmed he probably had a milk protein allergy. The difference was night and day. I wish I would have figured sooner.
