Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Feeding Schedule for your 7 month old???

What was/is your baby's feeding schedule like at 7 months? I am going on a 10 day vacation, without the baby Sad, and am working up a schedule for food and bottles. As he is exclusively nursing, and we don't want to introduce formula, I want to make sure we have enough milk stored up. Also, how much were you feeding in each serving? By then, he will be doing breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks!!!

Re: Feeding Schedule for your 7 month old???

  • My LO is only six months now and we feed 2 times a day but by the time he is seven months we will be feeding three times a day. He should be getting 24 to 32 oz of milk a day, 1/4 cup of an iron fortified cereal a day which I usually mix with a fruit for breakfast then 4 to 5 tablespoons of two more pures which I do some type of veggie or one is a mix like 2 T avocado and 2 T banana. How much solids are you doing now?

  • He currently eats 3 tbsp of oatmeal for lunch and 2 oz of a fruit or vegetable for dinner.

  • At 7 months, DS could go about 3 hours between bottles and was eating about 30 oz of formula per day. He dropped from 6 bottles to 5 around this time and also started napping better. For solids, I would feed him about an hour after his bottle, usually about 2-3 tbsp at a time. At that age, I pretty much just did 2 meals per day (1 in the early morning and one around lunch time) b/c his last two bottles of the day were only 2 hours apart.

Also, just a side note...I try to ensure that at least one meal a day has some kind of food to make him "go" b/c he tends to favor foods that are constipating like bananas and orange vegetables. I keep plums and mangoes handy to mix in, and they do the trick very well.

  • Is he sttn?  My kids all were by 7mo and down to 2 naps a day.  Usually only nursing 4x/day or taking a 6oz bottle.  Occasionally the morning bottle was bigger...7oz.  Or they would have 5 feedings if they happened to wake early around 5-6.  But schedules generally looked like this:

    7ish-nurse

    9-nap

    11:30ish-nurse

    2- nap

    4-nurse

    7-nurse and bed
