I think I'm going to register at both, but they have so much of the same stuff so I'm having a hard time figuring out what to register for where. Silly I know, but we don't live very close to a Babies R Us so if people would rather actaully go to a store than order online it would have to be Target. Maybe I'm over thinking this. Thoughts?
Re: Target vs. Babies R Us??
I do think it's good to register somewhere that guests can easily get to a physical store. A lot of people go pick up presents the day of or before a shower. That said, I've heard Target has a lot of registry issues and can be sucky with returns. Maybe register for smaller items that you're less picky about (diaper, wipes, bath products, etc.) at Target and the big ticket items at BRU?
I agree with PP about not registering for the same things at 2 stores- I get irritated when I see that on a registry and can't figure out what the parents actually want or if they want 2 of the item, etc.
I registered for some of the same things at both BBB and BRU and just check the registry every couple of days and deleted ones that were already bought on the other. Especially a good idea to duplicate some more expensive items because some people will only look at one of the lists. I figured "what are the chances that two different people are going to simultaneously buy that one specific expensive item", we would be lucky if just one person bought it!
You may also want to make a 3rd small list on Amazon for particularly online-savvy friends and family. It is by far the most convenient, and they carry the boutique Aden + Anais swaddles! I only put about 10 items on Amazon because I knew it would be less popular, but people bought 6 and I am happy I did.
I didn't register with either of these stores. I used Buy Buy Baby and Amazon. I realize you may not have the option, but as PPer said Target usually has tons of issues with their registries and you have to have a receipt and return the item within 90 days of purchase...not great when you get stuff for older babies and then don't end up needing them or you get stuff and they don't give a gift receipt.
I also don't like the way that BRU is set up I can never find anything off of anyone's registry in the store.
Just my two cents about that. Amazon is awesome btw I know they don't have a physical store which is one reason you want to register at target, but jsut throwing that out there too.
I'm going through a nightmare with my registry at Babies R Us, so I'm going to say Target!! lol I so wish I had one where I live.
My items keep changing colors/sizes...whether I do it online or in the store, doesn't matter. All they keep telling me is "it happens sometimes" Ugh!
You are probably over thinking it, but I did too.
. I registered at both and Buy Buy Baby. I duplicated a few items and just went n and returned anything I didn't want two of to BRU. Like a PP mentioned, Target has crazy restrictions on returns so I would just count on being able to return things to BRU.
Also, most things are cheaper at Target so I know I usually will look at both registries when buying for a friend and buy it at the cheaper place. I would probably duplicate the swing, rock n play, and other big items for that reason. Someone wanting to spend $75 or less might be able to buy you it at Target for that listed price but not at BRU. Just a thought.
