Best Carseat for Small Backseat?

I have a britax marathon in my car and i love it, but DH has an extended cab truck and right now I have the Evenflo Titan in the middle, which is AWFUL. The seat is cheap to the point that I can't even get it tightened correctly without major hassle. Secondly, his truck is lifted so I have to climb into the backseat to get him in and out.

I would love to find something that can fit rear-facing behind the passenger seat, but there is not a ton of room.

Any suggestions for small space convertible car seats?

Re: Best Carseat for Small Backseat?

  • We have an Evenflo Triumph (an upgrade from the Titan) RFing in our VW Jetta, and I've also intstalled it RFing in my dad's extended cab F150. In the Jetta it fits behind the passenger, and it probably could in the F150, too, but we installed it in the center of the back seat and it fit great. I did have to climb in to buckle and get DD in/out, but I think I'd have to do that no matter which car seat we had RFing.

I really love our Triumph, we've been using it for almost 2 years and it's been great. We've installed it RFing in quite a few different vehicles without a problem.

  • We love the Diono Radian RXT and R120. It can fit in tight spaces especially if you use the angle adjuster. We use it in a Ford escape, jeep liberty, Chevy avalanche, Toyota solara. It also has the highest rear facing weight limit on the market.

  • How tall is your DS? If he's small to average, you'll have more options than if he's really tall, at least if you want a longer lasting carseat.

  • In a truck? I'd go for a Radian with the angle adjuster, smaller footprint and more upright with the AA. Or a Graco MySize/Headwise/Size 4 Me. I can see how the Evenflo seat would be a PITA. I'm not a fan of those, since the rf limits make it done quickly rf. And the base creating difficult installs in tight places.
