Insomnia help!!

I'm going crazy! I just want to sleep! Tylenol pm, Benadryl, unisom... I've tried EVERYTHING. I'm just NOT TIRED. Has anyone found a solution?? Because I'm desperate at this point for sleep and I'm sure my mind racing has something go do with it, but I can't help that either :/

  • Considering I'm high risk due to a placental abruption with orders of bed rest and no sex, not really an option.
  • Have you tried taking a hot bath before bed? It's helped me from time to time. I too am suffering from insomnia, but it's due more to physical discomfort than being able to shut my brain off for the night.
  • Hecks no. My sleep pattern has been ridiculous the past few weeks. There was times I slept on and off and lay wide awake several hours later as the alarm would go off to take my DD to school and start the day.

Tonight is a good example of what's been happening too. 1030 tonight, lay down to relax, was dead dead tired, apparently fall asleep. Wake up for some reason a half hr ago, at 1230. Do you think I could sleep through being so tired? Noo. How is 2 hr burst nap sessions cutting it? Wtf. I just want sleep. Through the night.

It's not just always falling asleep that's the problem, it's staying asleep.

  • I've been having the same problem. I have been up since 1:45. I'm hoping to fall back asleep for at least an hour or two at some point. I swear our bodies are prepping us for when our LOs get here.
  • You are not alone. I had sleep problems before I got pregnant, but pregnancy made them SO much worse!
Today/last night (not sure how to classify it), I fell asleep on the couch literally immediately after dinner, but it only lasted for a few hours, and now I'm pretty wide awake at 1 AM. I don't know if you're still working or not, but my solution has been basically to sleep just whenever and wherever I can, even if that means I'm sleeping from 6 AM to noon, getting up to run a few errands, and then taking another nap when I get back if I have to. Even when I do actually get tired and fall asleep at night, it's only for a few hours at a time.

Do you think it's our bodies preparing us for being unable to get a full night's sleep once our babies get here? I think that's a cruel trick; it makes more sense to get as much sleep NOW and just have sleep deprivation later. Sad

  • The restless legs accompanied by discomforts has made impending bedtime a nightmare for me. It is terrible and last night I actually cried because of it.

Yeah mine is falling and staying asleep. And that sounds about right! An hour or two tops, then forget it. I'm back up desperately trying to fall asleep again. So irritating!! I swear its just because I was such an active person and being on bed rest I'm just not tired when its time to be. I'm just wondering when my 'crash' will happen!

That's what I've been told as well, but let me sleep until he gets here!! I know I'm gonna need it. Geesh.
  • Try yoga, even if its just the breathing part, it helps me sometimes. Good luck, I know it frustrating.
