Is this normal?

During the third trimester, I've had lower back pain right above my bum.  But, today it's really bad and I have a tingly sensation all down my right leg.  It almost feels numb.  Walking has been really difficult.  Anyone else have this?  Should I call the doctor or just suffer it out?

  • Sounds like sciatica to me. I get it all the time when pregnant. I don't think there is much they can do for you, although I have heard going to a chiropractor can help.

This. The baby is probably sitting on the nerve. Pelvic tilts might help.

  • I have had this for most of my 3rd trimester - today is particularly bad for me too!

I agree- sounds like sciatica. Sorry, doc said there is not much you can do!

  • I do pelvic rocks and use the heating pad for relief.

  • Don't suffer!  Go to a chiropractor!  I had that and it was my SI joint shifting out of place.  One twist and the chiro put it back and the pain was GONE.

  • stretch! honestly it will hurt while stretching but it does help a lot. Pelvic rocks are great, and just swaying back and forth while standing, keeping my hips and legs still, just moving my back feels great.
  • It very well could be sciatica, but it could also be what happened to me. My pelvis fell out of alignment. When I finally made it to the chiro my left leg was over half an inch longer than the right. I had no idea. The chiro, ice, and menthol are the only things that helped. Hope you get better soon!
