GTKY: Sports Fanatics?

Hey ladies!

In light of some trades my basketball team just announced... I thought I'd ask and see if any other ladies were big sports fans?

Do you play? Are you a big fan of a professional or college team?

Hubs and I are HUGE Orlando Magic (NBA) fans... our team sucks right now but that doesn't matter.  We're fans through it all and love watching the games on TV. I'm currently campaigning to become the GM, lol.

Our friends actually pitched in and got us an adorable basket full of Magic goodies - onesies, bibs, socks, a little jersey.  Sadly- the guy whose jersey we received was traded yesterday!! oh well - baby will rock a vintage jersey Smile

And no way in h3ll do I play ANY sports.  I am the worlds most uncoordinated person.  Seriously.  I trip in flats.

Re: GTKY: Sports Fanatics?

  • I am a die hard, and when I say die hard, my entire year revolves around football season. I watch college ball ROLL TIDE!! And I do watch pro ball NY Jets fan. I do play softball, and baby girl who is 5 just started her first year as a dixie sweetie(softball) and I am soooo pumped about it. DS is hardcore into football and this will be his 3rd year although 1st playing tackle football. (Eddie Lacy is his fav player from bama) He will sit and watch the games with me and has a pretty good understanding of what is going on. Baby already has a crimson tide beenie and matching booties which are fluckin adorable.

  • I'm a big redskins fan, like you said, through and through. I stay true to all my D.C. Sports teams. Huge wizards fan and I'm not big in baseball but I like the Nationals. Could never watch baseball on tv but going to the games is really fun. DH is a Duke basketball fan, so I support them for him since I have no feelings about any other team, but being that we live in Maryland we get flack for that. DH is a ravens fan, gag me, but he said if our baby can be raised to love Duke then he will concede and let me dress them in all redskins gear. Like he really had a choice?!

  • Not basketball (DH is working on that though) but I love football (Go Eagles and Bills - so yeah, I hear ya on not being a top team right now) and baseball (Phillies). DH loves all sports. He's big into soccer lately and hockey comes on occasionally too.

I don't plan to entirely outfit the baby in sports gear, but there will definitely be some!

  • I'm a HUGE Colts fan and Red Sox fan. MH loves the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Basketball is kinda meh for us. We'll watch it, but it's not the first thing we  turn on.

Sunday in my house during football season is a day of doing nothing but watching games. We never leave the house.

I used to play soccer, softball, I was a swimmer and ended my sports career as a cheerleader.

  • I think a word to describe DH and I is Sports Addicts!!!! We love all sports (some more than others). Baseball would probably be DH's first love. Huge Red Sox fan. For me football has the edge. I love the Rams even if they are awful. We watch a soccer, tennis, basketball, and a few other things in our free time.  Every vacation we have had except for our honeymoon involved a sporting event of some kind.  We talk about all the time taking our child with us and hoping that they enjoy it as much as we do.  The baby already has a few red sox onsies and a romper that MIL bought before we were even talking about babies.

I don't play sports but I do coach youth cheerleading.  I know it's not a sport in the tradtional sense but I love it and I get to watch all these cute little boys play football.  Plus since it's a recreational league you get a lot of girls that could really use some positive encouragement about themselves and being a part of something.

  • Another Washington Redskins fan here! DH and I also root for Baltimore Orioles when it's the baseball season. We are not much of the basketball people unless it's college basketball, then we like to follow the UMD Terps.

DD has couple of Redskins cheerleader outfits, jersey, hats, socks and bib my MIL got for us. Baby on the way will be wearing some or all of it in the future.

DD turned 2 not too long ago, but she already chants, "RG3! RG3! RG3!" She even urges people around her to say it, it's so stinking cute.  :)

I feel ya on liking teams that suck. Haha! My baseball team is the Seattle Mariners and since Ichiro left, we're no ones favorite, that's for sure! Of course, they're super lucky to be half and half at the end of their season. ;)

DH and I L-O-V-E football! As far as college goes, DH doesn't really have a team, but I'm a cowboy fan, through and through! Go POKES! (Oklahoma STATE) NFL wise, I'm a huge Packers fan (always have been!!) and DH is in love with the Falcons (he's a big fan of Tony G.) Even though my boys didn't do so hot this year, the dirty birds sure had us on our toes this past season!

I'm also a pretty big soccer fan, as my brother was/is really into it. So I keep track of the games, but since I don't have anything above basic cable, I really don't get the games. And go a head and start the flame throwers, because DH and I both hate basketball. *ducks and covers*

  • Minnesota Twins, Green Bay Packers, and our beloved Iowa State Cyclones. Through thick and thin, we will always love these teams! Besides.. Joe Mauer. Need I say more? Yum!

  • We are HUGE hockey fans in our house! Our team is the Flyers, and if either of us were Pittsburgh fans, that would have been a deal breaker when we met. Neither of us play hockey. My husband played in a soccer league for awhile when we started dating and he is thinking of taking it up again.
No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you are the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

  • Elauren no worries ; I know I'm usually in the minority being such a big bball fan. On the opposite end, hubs and I just don't get football lol. Maybe because all the Florida teams suck haha.

    I'm happy to see such enthusiastic sports fans on this board!! I see lots of pix of babies in team onesies in our future ;

  • We are huge college football fans. The Oregon Ducks are our team... Go DUCKS!! Too bad we just lost our coach to the NFL :(

I'm also a NY JETS fan. That gets harder every year, though.

YAY!!! Another Wings fan, my husband and I love them, although this season has been a little painful to watch.  We have already gotten a set of Redwings booties from my MIL.   My husband is an Ohio State Football fan as well, but the Wings are definitely the favorite around here.

We are also Bills fans so we have suffered through some rough seasons.

  • We are huge sports fans!! Football, baseball and hockey are most watched in our house...Detroit sports are great! (Well, unless you count the Lions, but we just can't stop cheering for them!)

I actually just got DH tickets to see a Tigers spring training game for his birthday when we are in FL next month, pretty excited about that!

I love spring training!! I'm not a huge MLB fan but my dad is and we try and go to a spring training game every year. Lots of teams practice here in Florida. Always brings back good memories :
