Re-sleep training

Hey mama's! I was just wondering if anyone has had to re-train their LO's on sleeping. My son began sleeping thru the night at 6 months old (he'd wake up occasionally, cry for a few minutes and go right back to sleep). He's now 8 1/2 months old, popped a few teeth thru and has begun to stand up in his crib. Now when he wakes up he stands up and cries for long periods of time, I always keep an eye on his from his baby monitor to make sure he's okay, but he will not go back to sleep. I have started going in and rubbing his back until he falls back to sleep. Sometimes this goes on for several hours, back and forth to his room. I do believe in the CIO method, and had found great success in it. But now it doesn't seem to be working and I am wondering if I should just start over with the CIO basics. I would let him cry 5 min, then go in and comfort him, adding 2-3 minutes on each time. After about 3 days he would cry about 2 minutes if at all. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks!!

Re: Re-sleep training

  • We are in the same boat... but we are actively teething... for the last 2 weeks.  Not eating well and having those awful teething blowouts.  He was doing great, but has been up 0-2 times per night for the past 2-3 weeks.  Once we are over this hurdle, we will do the Ferber method again.  Right now it is easier just to nurse him back to sleep... but I am so aware that I am creating a disaster.
