are you less inclined to use it? Would you go around telling everyone you'd picked out Zuma Nesta Rock WAY BEFORE Gwen did?
Or would you just shrug and use it anyway ... at least you know it'll become more popular and your kid won't be the ONLY one named Violet in her class ...?
Re: if a celebrity "steals" your baby name
So you're telling me that Zuma Nesta Rock is already taken?!? Damn!
::Goes back to the drawing board::
I know! You're screwed! SCREEEEWEDDDD!
lmao. How about Petunia?
Here's my baby name list....

We don't have celebrities stealing our names; we have tv characters. 1 week before DS was born, Dana on "According to Jim" named her baby Tanner. I wanted to scream b/c even though we didn't know we were having a boy, that was the chosen name. I was afraid people would think I copied the show. Then 1 week before our u/s for #2, a character on General Hospital named her little girl our girl name. DH said it meant we were having a girl. He was right. I guess tv writers are in my uterus!
I wouldn't use the name just because it would be too popular and the main reason I picked out the names that I did is because they are unique.
Once a name is on a tv program or used by a celebrite it just seems to become the most popular.
Do people really think Violet is a bad name? It's my MN (family name) and I fully intend to use it as my baby's middle name if I have a girl. I always liked it.
I loved Hazel for a girl--then Julia had to use it! Ugh....
I think Violet is a great name...and even though Jen and Ben have used it, still don't think it is terribly popular.
My girls name (Lyla) has been in Will and Grace and on General Hospital. But we came up with it waaaaay before it was featured on those shows!! (K-maybe not GH, since it was used for one of the older charaters, and let's face it, I'm not that old...) And I do feel like I have to say when/how we came up with it....but I am still planning on using it. I love it. I love, love, love it.
Our middle name for our girl (Addison) also made popular by the Grey's/ Private Practice character--though we picked it after the street Wrigley Field is on (big Cubs fans here). Again....always going to have to explain...I am sure it really won't matter to anyone but me.
Eh, we'll use Max, whether or not (I think it was J Lo) used it for her kid. It's normal enough that it's not "Oh, like J Lo's kid". I think Violet falls into that category, as does Parker. Maddox and Pax, not so much. Even Shiloh, or Leon or Knox is arguably not only Jolie-Pittish.
(I liked Angelina and DH said no. Too Hollywood recognizable.)
