Bulging Cervix...a little freaked out.

Just got back from the doctor's office and found out that my cervix is bulging. I will be 30 weeks on Monday. The only reason they checked is I had to go to OB Triage 3 1/2 weeks back because of a discharge issue and during an ultrasound they thought my cervix was measuring short. Turns out it was measuring 3cm and is just curved. Anyways, I wanted them to check the length to see if it had gone down since then and just to give me peace of mind.

She checked my cervix and said it was bulging. Your cervix is supposed to be more pear shaped and mine is more of an apple shaped. I go in on Monday to get the ultrasound of my cervical length (insurance doesn't cover ultrasounds at my doctor's office so have to go somewhere else) and then on Tuesday go in to do a test that figures out if I am at risk for pre-term labor.

I am just really nervous. Anyone else have any experience with this?? Indifferent I was ordered to "take it easy" this weekend and drink lots of water.

    Im sorry you are dealing with this.  Take the advice and just rest all weekend.  Hopefully when you go back everything is fine.

    I have no experience with buldging,  just shortening.

    DX: PCOS/Recurrent losses/MTHFR mutation (compound hetero)
    5 hysteroscopies/2 surgical
    3 Inject IUIs = 2 m/c's and 1 BFN
    IVF #1= BFP. m/c at 7w6d. Needed 2 D&C's and scar tissue removal. Mild OHSS
    IVF #2 = BFP. Severe OHSS. 4 Drainings. TWINS!

    I don't know if I've had any experience with this. nbsp;Sorry, but I've never been told that I've had a bulging cervix. nbsp;But I have had a ton of cervix issues, so it's possible that they have used a different term. nbsp;I really hope things go well at your appointments next week. I'll have my FX for you.Definitely take it as easy as possible this weekend. Stay off your feet as much as you can, and stay horizontal. nbsp;I think it's made a huge different with my cervix. nbsp;nbsp;


    I have never heard of bulging, but I think the PTL test is the fetal fibronectin test. I hope it is negative. Take NOLAs advice above. Good luck and prayers everything is ok.
