Ditto. Pedi told us to use this once a week and it wouldn't take more than 1 to 2 applications for it to work since it wasn't a bad case. It worked just like she said.
DS had cradle cap. I just left it alone since it didn't seem to bother him. It wasn't worth it to me to deal with trying to remove it as it typically just keeps coming back. It eventually cleared up.
I used coconut oil (applied after every bath and every morning). One day when the scales looked quite loose I gently combed her hair/massaged her scalp with a soft bristled brush/baby comb. The cap (flakes) came off and I continue to apply the oil and it hasn't come back!
DD has mild cradle cap. I don't do much at all. Sometimes in the bath I will rub her head with the washcloth or brush her hair with the bristle brush as soon as she's done.
Her doctor told me it eventually goes away and it's best to leave it alone.
We use Aquaphor as recommended by the pedi. I put it on generously a few hours before bathtime. It makes her hair look greasy but the cradle cap disappears. It's usually back within a day after her bath but it's lessening.
Re: Cradle cap
Not long but it all depends on how often you bathe the baby and how bad the cradle cap is.
