Alcohol and Metformin??

So for all you ladies who take Meformin, do you drink much? I love, LOVE, LOVE my wine but don't want to kill my liver... So sometimes I don't take my Met on days I drink..

What do ya'll do?

    I'm typically a non drinker, so I haven't really thought about it. it does say on my metformin bottle to check with your doc or pharmacist before drinking alcohol while on the medication, though.
    trying for #1 since May 2012... we're adopting! bringing home baby boy in january 2015!

    Whoa, I wouldn't say that. I'm in my last year of pharmacy school so I know a thing or two about metformin. Obviously it's realistic to want to drink occasionally, but I would limit your alcohol intake to a couple of drinks a month AT MOST. I wouldn't go around saying things like "it's fine to drink while on metformin" because some women may read that and think its okay to get intoxicated every weekend. Your liver will thank you down the road for not drinking while on metformin.
