oblique lie- repost from 3rd tri

Anyone have or had a baby with an oblique lie? This is my second baby and I haven't been on these boards much this time, but I am 38 weeks today and baby has been at an oblique lie. His head down, but to the left like above my leg.

Just wondering if you were able to give birth vaginally or if you ended up with a csection.

I am trying to move him through position, but she said we have to wait till labor to see if contractions move him. Unless my water breaks I go straight to hospital in case his shoulder/arm is in the way etc.

Thanks for any insight!

oh doesn't matter much, but 1cm dilated and cervix is still high.

  • I haven't heard of this before how did your OB catch this, through an ultrasound?

  • Well she said she can feel his head down there, but it's to the left. Then she made me had an ultrasound last week. This week she just used her hands again to feel and said the same thing his head is to the left. She did say there is a chance contractions will direct him. We just don't know till it happens.

  • Im in the same boat as you. I know my LO has been like this for at least 4 to 6 weeks bc when I wake up every morning she is scrunched up on my left side, my belly looks like a lopsided cone. My OB confirmed this with an ultrasound this week, they do one to check position. her head is down but right above my left hip, then her butt is right behind my belly button, and her feet are on the right side of my belly.

I'm a FTM so I can't advise on outcome, but my OB was not worried and told me not to worry. She said its good that the head is down and that LO should just move her head into my pelvis when she's ready. OB had no concerns about me not being able to have a vaginal birth. Of course, that's no guarantee but it's just something we'll just have to see what happens, but no jumping to csection conclusions so quickly.
