How to make a blue nursery girly

Okay so when we found out we were having a baby I fell in love with a nursery with a deep blue/teal color and a stone wall. We have already purchased the paint color and stone, we then found out that its a girl, yes I know it was a little too early to buy stuff but I couldn't find anything else that I loved. If anyone can help me make this room girly. We are running out of time so please help make it girly, asap. Here is the link to the room that inspired us. We did get the same paint color and same stone.

Re: How to make a blue nursery girly

  • I think you could add in some lime green, teal, and dark pink accents to make it a little more girly. You could pull those colors in with pictures for the wall, letters over the crib, pillows on your chair or glider if you have one, etc.

Yes. Pops of feminine colors will easily make the space a girls room. Light coral would look really great with the dark teal. It's a really cool looking nursery, GL!

  • Our nursery is a teal color. I used hot pink and yellow as accents. So, all pictures (we framed Impressionist prints) have hot pink mats around them and either black or white frames. White nursery furniture except for a yellow bookcase. Pink trimmed curtains. Her area rug has pink, yellow, green, and white. I love it because it's not over the top girly but still feminine

  • I agree with others, it's all about the accent colors.  I might do white instead of the darker wood colors.  Then accent it with some pinks and yellows.

What a beautiful idea for a nursery by the way!  Love it!  Hope we can see pictures :)

  • The blue could be the "sky" and you could add clouds or trees or birds.  The stone reminds me of a castle wall, so maybe you could make the room a princess theme.

  • I'm purposely doing the walls in aqua and sky blue for our LO.  The bedding has those colors and tons of pink, it will obviously be girly.  Plus, seeing my older DD's room (aqua) it is so much softer than all pink or lavender.

  • My daughter's nursery is very purposefully a bright blue. You can definitely add pops of feminine colors (we used pink, brown, and white) to girly it up. We also used a few fabrics with floral or feminine scroll type prints, and butterfly accents.

  • I wouldn't worry too much. When you've finished painting and decorating I think it will all make sense and look right. We knew our baby was a girl and still went out and bought a bright, light sky blue colour and painted the whole room. We left all the trim white. My mom will be coming to visit and will be painting one wall an under the sea mural. I'm not a fan of pink and find a whole pink room can be a bit much. For now, it looks like we are expecting a boy...but once the fish are on the wall it will make more sense!!

  • Navy and pink look great together!  I think that I have even seen bedding with those colors.
  • You could do a rug like this for another statement piece and then do a ruffle crib skirt and or curtains.

  • Like everyone else says, accent colors. I love teal with coral/pink. These are some inspirational pics I pinned recently (ok, the second is aqua, but you get the idea):

And I never really understood why blue ws for boys anyways. It has always, always been my favorite color.

  • I hope that is your forever house. no one in their right mind would buy a home with a room that has stone stuck to it.
