Im sitting in a restaurant eating lunch and racing is on tv. I just don't get it. They drive in circles over and over.
That was always me until I went to a race and then worked security in the pits for another one and then I got hooked. There's so much that goes on other than the actual driving to win a race. I still have a hard time watching them on tv though...they're usually just on in the background. DS loooooves to watch them though. It's pretty hilarious.
I've said this one a few times before but I want to say it again because it irritates me so much.
I hate how pregnancies are calculated. I hate that you are given 2 weeks for nothing because they're done since your LMP when you didn't ovulate until later. I know that most women don't know when they ovulated so I think it's fine to ask people when their last LMP was, but the calculation, in my mind, should be from ovulation/conception, NOT LMP.
As a result you have everyone thinking that pregnancies are over 9 mo long (because 40w is just a bit over 9 mo) but in fact pregnancies are less than 9 mo (38w, the actual gestation time for a "40w pregnancy," is less than 9 mo). You also have people getting confused about which trimester starts when, when the embryo becomes a fetus, etc. Because sometimes scientists (and REs, apparently) actually go by gestation, whereas doctors/OBs/the public go by LMP.
I know this is like the English (as opposed to metric) system and it will never change, but it still really bothers me.

This is one of my pet peeves too. I also hate when someone who is 36 weeks pregnant claims she is "9 months" pregnant. Um, no, you're not. You are 238 days pregnant which is about 8 months.
38 weeks is pretty darn close to 9 months though, so that part doesn't bother me.

HA! My brother just tried to pull this one with his wife. He was like, she is 8 months pregnant. I said no, she is 7 months. She is in her 8th month of pregnancy, but she doesn't get to say she is 8 months pregnant until she finishes that month!!! And he tried to tell me I was wrong.
Who's the master, Leroy? (at all things pregnancy?) ME!
Re: UO Thursday
Well that was a flop....I'll just go hide now
It drives me up the wall when people say prego preggers KU and anything else besides pregnant. It doesn't take anymore effort to type pregnant.
