Sleep question for a friend

My friend's 5 month old daughter face plants in her sleep and will not turn her head. She has an Angel Care monitor, but she doesn't trust it enough to just let her stay face planted. She's also been propping her up so she stays on her side, but that won't last long. She's a nervous wreck and hardly sleeps for fear her DD will suffocate. Any suggestions?

Re: Sleep question for a friend

  • My DH suggested that she have her dd sleep in the carseat for three days or so so that she gets used to the night sleep facing up. After those days then she can put her back in the crib and see if the habit has changed. She'll be safe in the carseat and if she doesn't sleep well then I guess it won't be so different for your friend since she can't sleep well anyway. It's worth a shot. I hope this helps.

  • I don't know. The thing they're propping her with bothers me more then the position, especially since she can apparently get out of it. What has her ped said? I like Mrs R's idea but if she doesn't break the habit, I don't know what she can do apart from making sure the sheet is absolutely snug, nothing in the crib, etc. I would be a wreck too!

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

Her pedi told her to either prop her up or trust her monitor went off if she stopped breathing... She's not happy with either response.
