Recommend your baby thermometer

I have 3, and none of them are accurate. Which kind is best?

Re: Recommend your baby thermometer

  • We use the safety 1st rectal.  I was squeamish before using it, but it is actually super easy, takes 8 seconds to get an accurate temp and was really inexpensive. Eventually we will buy an ear one, but according to my pedi and research I have done, at this age the rectals are most accurate.

  • I have the kind that runs across the forehead (like they have at the doctor's office). My doctor said that I didn't have to add or subtract anything from the reading I get from it, so I'm assuming that it is pretty accurate.

That's the exact one I have.

  • Rectal temps are the most accurate at this age. We have the Safety First with exchangeable tips. Eventually we will probably get a forehead or ear reader. Depending what the pedi recommends.

We have this one too.  My husband is a physician and said if it was good enough for the hospital it is good enough for us. I also bought a rectal one  (despite my husband's discouragement) because I heard that it was the most accurate type and I've literally never taken it out of the box.

Me too. My aunt, who is in charge of the OB floor recommended it because they use them at her hospital. Works great.

I just wish it ran across the forehead more smoothly. I can get it across just fine, unless he's squirming, which is most of the time haha.
