Formula best for spitters?

Ds is only a week old and we have been between milk based and soy this whole week. I know going back and forth probably isnt the best way to go but i am so confused as to why he spits up so much! He started with enfamil newborn and he spit up in pretty large quanities, so i switched him to gerber soy, he still spit up but the spit up seemed to be less. After learning soy isnt the most nutritious alternative, we have enfamil another shot and he has spit up every bottle today.
Ant advice for a formula for spitters that isnt necessarily targeted towards reflux babies?

Re: Formula best for spitters?

  • I'm just starting on formula from the boob, and it seems like I am getting less spit up if I give smaller quantity more frequently. We were having the same problem, but it turns out my lo just didn't have as much room in his belly as I thought he should.....

  • we use gerber soothe.  If your LO is drinking too much that can cause it as well.

  • Talk to your pedi.

DD spit up a ridiculous amount on similac advance, so we switched to enfamil gentleease which helped some, but she was still spitting up with force. We then switched to the soy and she is much happier.

She still has a lot of quantity of spit up, but it no longer has the force.

DD has some other issues that effect feeding, though.

We use Soothe as well. It really helped our LO, but it took a week or so to really see it.

  • We were having the same issue, and switched to the similac gentlese and also switched to the Dr Brown bottles.  They have really helped.  You might want to attempt switching bottles.
