How often should a 2 year old pee?

I started the 3 day potty training today and my 2 year old daughter woke up with a wet diaper and then didn't go again until about 1:30.  I put her in a diaper for her nap and again, she woke up with it wet.  Then she didn't go again for the rest of the night.  I'm not sure how this is supposed to work when she only goes once a day (during waking hours).  She has been sick with a cold, so I'm sure that is contributing to it some, but its pretty normal for her to not go all morning.  I've been giving her a lot of juice which I don't normally do, but I wanted to keep her hydrated while she was sick. Everything I read online says the kids have a lot of accidents the first day and she only had 1.

  • she may be holding a bit in these early stages

my dd can go at least a couple of hours, and wakes up pretty dry (well pull up doesn't feel wet...) after 12-13 hours of sleep

just keep pumping her with liquids - especially water if she has a cold & it pting....

  • She's holding it, give her a lot of water .  I know it's not a good thing per the 3 day method but i put her on the potty often in the beginning because i didn't want her to get UTI and would give her a prize if she actually peed.  It took 3-4 months for her to "get it" and start asking to go.  I still put her in the potty now because she tends to hold it longer than i like.

  • DD2 goes anywhere from 2-5 hours usually. It depends on how much she drinks too. At this point, I have to go to the bathroom more than she does.
