What is your baby eating?

I have one of the younger babies here, she won't be 10 months until March 2. We're transitioning from exclusive purees to table food the past few weeks. I feel like i was a ton more adventerous with food with my DS's. For some reason i'm hesitant with DD. We do all fruits, steamed and smooshy into tiny pieces, waffles for breakfast, cheese, yogurt, shredded chicken, veggies steamed, etc. I got cereal bars to try with her, obviously tiny pieces. What else are you giving? She will eat anything. I think I just need to get over my fear and let her try things. Like for lunch, what do you give? TIA!

Re: What is your baby eating?

  • Breakfast: Cereal bar (I hand him the whole bar. He goes to town), (real people) oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, cheerios, bananas

Lunch: Oranges, pasta and meat, pears, apples (raw), strawberries (he hated all berries), cheese, yogurt, salsbury steak, mashed potatoes, basically anything daycare is serving the older kids

Snacks: pretzels, goldfish, various dry cereals, graham crackers, regular crackers, yogurt melts. He's on a puff and Mum Mum strike.

Dinner: Whatever we're having, and some days, he has to have what is on MY plate (or DH's). He doesn't care that it's the same food as his. He wants it to come off of our plate. Ugh. That leaves me with very bland (salt-free) food. Blech.

  • My DD will eat anything she can get her hands on! When I m home I usually start her off with baby oatmeal banana cereal, a real banana and about 4 oz formula.
Lunch varies, she's had shredded chicken breast with crackers and water followed with 2 to 3 oz milk. She's hasn't been given juices as yet.
Dinner is sometimes what we eat or just her bottle. She still drinks a lot of baby milk because she never a takes enough table food to satisfy her.

But so far she's eaten chicken and given the leg she spent a long time skinning the bone!., steak, sardines, salmon, pork, spaghetti, peas, apple slices, rice which I made much softer than ours, mash potatoes her fav.

I haven't given her any cheese or Mac n cheese because I worry about constipation. But she does great eating everything else!

4 teeth, and 2 more coming out but she doesn't use those to chew neither do we! good luck
  • DD has mostly purees and puffs still but she will eat anything.  She's had yogurt and cheese.  I am really scared to give her other foods because I feel like she's going to choke.  I know she is probably able to handle a lot of things but I am so afraid to try.  I feel bad but my fears are getting the best of me.  Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Oh jeez, Shawn eats just about anything and everything.  We do cereal (Cheerios, etc), pancakes, toast, eggs, yogurt, fruit, etc for breakfast.  Lunch we do dinner leftovers, more eggs or yogurt, cheese, some sort of finger veggies; and dinner he usually has whatever we have unless we get take out or something he really shouldn't eat (Chinese, cheesesteaks, etc).

His favorite things now for snacks are rice cakes, I'll break one in quarters and he'll either bite off little pieces at a time, or he just figured out how to tear it apart into small pieces himself.  He also loooves broccoli, but I will only do that earlier in the day since he tends to get kinda gassy (takes after DH maybe? lol).  Who knew there is broccoli in the freezer section already cut up in baby size pieces????!!!  It's my new fav thing.

  • DS has gone on a baby puree strike (unless I mix some of the fruit puree into cream of wheat or adult oatmeal); he wants to pick up his food now, and is very insistent about it! He still gets 3 servings of a formula a day (in a straw cup; we're off bottles- yay!); totaling between 16- 22 oz. (He was drinking ~ 24- 28 oz at his 9 month appt, but he's been weaning himself from it over the past 4 weeks). So for table foods, we've tried:

Breakfast:  pancakes, waffles, toast, dry cereals (LOVES his cheerios!), cream of wheat, and adult oatmeal. (I think I'm going to try grits tomorrow).

Lunch: Turkey & american cheese sandwiches on whole wheat bread (I just rip tiny chunks of sandwich, and he gobbles them up!),  chicken salad, Stonyfield YoBaby yogurts, and pieces of string cheese.

Snacks:  Gerber Graduates puffs, waffle wheels or cheddar/veggie crunchies, graham crackers, animal crackers or cheerios.

Dinner: Whatever we eat, in whatever spices/sauce (I rarely use salt; just herbs/spices). I made siesta chicken/peppers/beans tonight and he ADORED it! (Gobbled up the guacamole with it too!). He's also had turkey, beef & ham. The only fish we've tried so far is tilapia, but he loved that too. He's going to try pork on Saturday night. He eats potatoes, pasta, mac n cheese, rice, etc. He loves cooked veggies. Carrots and green beans are his favorites so far.

Fruits: He loves raw apples (I just cut small pieces), raw pears, regular applesauce (natural; no sugar added though), peaches, grapes, oranges, bananas, etc. He has not had juice yet though, as he is a good water drinker, and I'd LOVE for him to stay that way! lol!

Honestly, the only things I'm truly avoiding for right now are nuts, strawberries, watermelon, eggs, honey and things that are too raw/crunchy for him. (And with my pedi's blessing after his 1 yr appt, I'll probably try the fruits and eggs, but still hold off on the nuts and honey.)
