Diaper rash wont go away!?

My LO has had a diaper rash for over 3 weeks. Ive trued AD, buttpaste, desitin, and nothing has worked. I took her to the doc 10 days ago or so and she said she had both yeast and reg diaper rash. Ive used the meds she gave me for the yeast and its about gone but apparently the reg rash will not go away! I cant see the reg she us naturally pink so I would have no udea she had it if it wasnt for the factvthat she screams any time I change her diaper. Do you know of anything I can do to help it? Ive been dipping her in water whenever she pees and shes been going diaperless all day and then j put maalox on let it dry then put a ton of desitin on and still 3 weeks later and no improvement! So steessful taking care of a fussy baby all day long.

  • Ive read that and ive been wondering if thats the case but shes used the same diapers since birth. Could they all of a sudden start bothering her now?

  • My pedi recommended Lotrimin AF with my FB and it worked GREAT. She was really prone to diaper rashes, to the point of blistering a few times, and this helped more than anything. It's an anti-fungal cream. What type of medicine did they give?

  • We also used the Lotromin AF and switched to all white diapers with no dye. We used pampers swaddlers. Good luck.

  • Try seventh generation diapers. . Just one pack. . My lo is allergic to premiers and most huggies..
Other ideas are baking soda baths. . Just dump more than you think you need in and soak. ..

Have you tried just baby powder or corn starch and nothing else?

  • She prescribed Nystatin for the yeast since I tried lotrimin for a few days and it hadnt helped. The Nystatin finally kicked in after a week or more but since I didnt get a rx for the reg rash Im still dealing with that one. I didnt try cornstarch since that can irritate the yeast. I think im gonna try switching diapers.

  • For bad diaper rashes I'll soak LO in a warm bath with baking soda.  Also, give her some time without a diaper on to help air it out.  Definitely try switching diapers.  Three weeks is a long time for a diaper rash.

ETA: Sorry, I just saw you have been going diaperless.

  • Have you changed detergents or anything lately?  Has she eaten anything other than her regular formula?  I agree with switching out diapers AND wipes and I'd get some oatmeal bath and have her sit in that a couple times a day for a while.  FYI - Aveeno sells a regular version and a "baby" version.  They're identical except the baby version is, of course, more expensive.

  • I have done this and so has my SIL and it works eveytime our kiddos get a bad diaper rash. Wipe egg whites on the rash let it dry and put diaper back on. Egg whites harden and protect the skin it washes off really easily the next time you change them. A nurse from childrens hospital told my SIL to try it once and it worked like a charm.

  • Have you tried Dr. Smiths diaper ointment? My son had a nasty rash and my doc recommended this. It cleared up in 2 days! I've only be enable to find it on amazon but it worked wonders for my sons rash.
  • By the way, my son was the same way. He would scream when I changed his diaper. The cream is very rich and thick and it immediately soothed his bottom. I highly recommend it!

  • id keep the diaper off for as long as you can. buttpaste usualy works for DD. but maybe try going all natural. you could give baby hugos all natural diaper cream. its all natural, organic, fragrance free, and hypoalergenic. we use it for when LO has a mild rash and is safe for chapped winter cheeks too. also, you could try earth mama angel baby nipple cream, its also all natural and very soothing, its made with olive oil other calming things.

im sorry that your LO has to deal with a sensitive tush!
