Am I the only one just getting started with baby prep?
I've been all caught up with getting DD1's big girl room finished and totally put baby things on the back burner. But she has been sleeping in her new room for 4 nights now (yay!!) so yesterday and today I finally started doing some stuff for this baby! I went through DD1's NB/0-3 clothes and I bought a few things at Babies R Us. I feel so much better now and it's made it so much more real to me too. I can't believe in about a month I'm going to have two little girls in this house!
Re: STM's - Am I the only slacker?
I just painted the nursery today, so I feel slightly more prepared than I did yesterday. My mom is making all the bedding and I just ordered a bunting with DD's name on it from a e-friend/etsy seller, so I'm getting there little by little. I have all her clothes for nb and 0-3 set organized in baskets that will go on the changing table shelves once DH paints it white. I haven't packed a bag or really thought much about a 2nd baby joining our family much at all, I have to admit. I still have to get all the baby stuff out (carseat, bottles, etc) and clean them.
Slacker here, too. But we did install the car seat yesterday!
The baby will be sleeping in our room, which is an utter disaster. It has DS's old furniture, random crap that needs to be thrown away, etc. It's awful.
So glad I'm not the only one! We still have plenty of time
Any thoughts on reusing bottles, pacifiers, and breast pump parts? I'm torn about whether I need to buy new stuff or just clean and sterilize what we have since I did keep everything.
I've heard the nipples on the bottles and pacis can dry out and not be great for the next baby...that being said, I'll probably give the old ones a try if they look ok. I just have to find my size 1 bottle nipples because the current ones that I left on the bottles are 2's I think.
The only reason I haven't slacked is because I had NOTHING. We lived in small apartments, moved across the country, and are having an opposite gender 3 years later. So in many ways I was a FTM trying to get ready.
With my second, I slacked. I only got her clothes washed and put away because I spent the night in the hospital at almost 34 weeks with PTL (still took me another week to get around to it).
(edit) I lied there is one person a day ahead of me. Guess I'm not the only one with 2 weeks left and still not ready.
Nope, I've been quite the slacker, although I finally did get around to something the last couple of weeks. I finally did put the infant seat together yesterday and DH moved/put together the crib this week. The nursery is still a combined office/nursery, but I think it's going to stay for the moment that way so oh well. I still haven't packed a bag or installed a carseat. Maybe I'll get to that in next week or so.
In terms of reusing stuff, my general plan is to reuse the hard plastic stuff (bottles, breast pump flanges, etc) and replace the "soft" plastic stuff (valves/membranes, tubing, nipples, pacifiers). In reality though, I'm going to just go with new bottles for the most part (we used Avent the last time that were the vintage of if you didn't assemble them just perfectly they leaked). I've got a bunch of cheap bottles that I'll still use for pumping, but hopefully I won't need nearly as many bottles this time around as I did with the twins.

Beyond moving DD from the nursery into her big girl room I haven't really done much. I did switch DD from the infant seat to her convertible seat and I washed the cover of the infant seat so that is ready to go for the baby. Since we already have a boy and a girl this baby will basically be only wearing hand me downs- we are team green so I probably should go pull our newborn clothes out of storage and wash a few girl and boy sleepers. I plan on washing the rest of it once the baby is home and we know what gender to wash lol
I will probably pack my hospital bag sometime in the next week and put together the baby's hospital bag too. Since DD isn't very old most of our baby stuff is still around and wasn't really packed away. We will probably reuse our bottles/nipples/pacis again since I've already thrown out the nipples that are yucky. I am hoping BF'ing will be more successful this time and we won't need many bottles.
I do need to pull the swing out of storage and probably wash the cover on that- I am really not too worried about having a bunch of stuff ready this time around. So little gets used in the beginning that I don't feel a big stress to get everything ready (exersaucer, baby toys, etc.) I'll just do it as we need it :-)
same here...the curtains are hung
