Coconut Oil for diaper rash..

Forgive me if some of you have been using this already, but I just stumbled upon it and needed to share.  I love it!  I used it for the first time last night and her rash was gone this morning.  I'm so happy to have found something natural to use on her - plus she smells soooo good!  I went ahead and used it on her arms and legs for a regular lotion too.  I didn't realize there was so much it could be used for, but the more I research it, it keeps popping up as a go-to ingredient.  It made me think, does anyone have any other "natural" remedies they use daily you would like to share?

  • Coconut oil can be used for so much stuff. I've never used it but I'm always seeing ways to use it.

  • Everyone keeps saying how great it is. Our first horrible diaper rash I will be buying some to try. Thankfully we have only had one bad rash and the butt paste took care of it in two days.

  • Not a remedy, but I recently discovered the power of peanut butter in getting label goo off bottles and jars. Much better than using Goo Gone!

Must be the oil in the pb. I've been using a paste of baking soda and veg oil. It's okay. Not great. I find no homemade remedy is as good as Goof Off. I use the super powerful comes in a tiny little metal can stuff not the large plastic squirt bottle. I wish I could get something that would work as well as it smells awful but oh well.

  • I have a girlfriend who swears by coconut oil.  She uses it for all kinds of stuff.  You can use it medicinally too, but I think you have to be sure to get the high quality stuff that can cost a lot.

I'm drawing a blank on other natural things but I'll come back if I think of any!

  • I use coconut oil on dd head to toe since birth.  I prefer the expeller organic pressed virgin coconut oil from Whole Foods. It smells so good.  Next fav natural is baking soda.  Good for brushing teeth, deodorant, cleaning and baking. Another one is saline solution good for dealing with nasty cold symptoms ie sore throat and stuffy noses.

  • Tea Tree Oil is always in my house... love love love that stuff.  I need to find out if it's safe for the munchkin and if so what age is ok to start using it  on him.

  • I use all of the things mentioned so far, and almost no "baby" products. The cloth diaper board has a lot of info on this kind of thing.
