i'm just wondering how many people have an elective c section and whether they wish they wouldn't have?

I had one. 8 hours after my water broke, I had zero contractions and she was still up in my ribs. Even the perinatologist who checked me via u/s was shocked at how high up Alice still was. So, my options were Pitocin or a c-section. Given some other factors I had a 40% chance of ending up needing a c-section anyway. I chose to have one before my body was beat to hell by labor and *then* go through major surgery.

I had a fabulous experience, and would absolutely do it again. I had a textbook surgery and recover, and both me and my daughter are happy and healthy. That's all that matters to me.

I had to have one. (They thought baby was breech and she wasn't. Also for another medical reason) i did not want one, nor would i recommend one.

I delivered both ways. I would chose vaginal any day, and y labor was pitocin induced, with an epi for less than an hour ofi it, and it didn't even half work right, but to be fair, my spinal for my csection didn't work either, and I was cut open not numb, ad had to be knocked out.

The recovery for my csection was terrible, I couldn't get out of bed unassisted for 3 weeks,

This. I don't know why anyone would be like, "woohoo, major surgery!" if they had another option.

. THIS!!! Why would you chose to go through major surgery? If you or you baby has a medical issue then fine, but if not then the word "elective" is sooooo horrile. My opinion.

Mine was unplanned; epi was already in place and working beautifly, then LO's heart rate was dropping with each contraction and was gettting worse even with shifting my position and was stuck at 6cm with meconium already noticed in the bag after they broke it. They thought placenta might be getting squeezed ... turns out umbi cord was long and wrapped around her body AND neck. Only uncomfortable parts of csection for me was when they were putting organs back in and that was some major discomfort.

Must say recovery wise, my recent dental work on a back molar to get a crown has been worse to recover from than my csection. Worst from csection has been some intestinal discomfort between bowel movements and weak lower ab muscles make it difficult to sit up from laying position and definitly feeling effects of being on feet for extended periods.

I am having one for my second LO. After the hell of a 27 hour labor, I'm excited I can have him/her out much quicker with an elective c section.

I am having one. After many, many hours of induced labor pains and having to eventually have an C-section with my first one, I am very happy to not have to go through that again. I did have a super C-section with great recovery the first time. Hopefully I can say the same with the next one.

I had an elective c section and I'm extremely happy that I did. Everything went so smoothly. There was an increased chance I would need a c section and knew that if that was the case, I would have been a mess. Recovery wasn't bad for me at all. I decided to have another csection this time around. My doctor said I was a good candidate for a vbac, but I don't want to. DH doesn't want me to have a vbac either.

I had a prior emergency c-section, and after a lot of internal debate, decided to go with a repeat c-section instead of a VBAC. It was a hard choice, but I'm positive I've made the right one for me, my family, and most importantly, my baby.

I got one because I needed one, but if I were having another child, I wouldn't even attempt a VBAC.

Mine sort of was. I have a spine problem so it was recommended to have one. I'm so glad I did and if I get pregnant again I'm definitely getting another csection. I was lucky though and healed really quick. I was basically back to normal 1 week post op.

I am having another c/s. My first was breech. I wanted a c/s with #2. I had such a great experience with my first. My recovery was a breeze I was out of the hospital after 2 days and was out and about pretty much after that.

I would avoid having a c-section if you can. I would not chose elective for many reasons. My doctor did a great job with my incision but some of my friends were not so fortunate. The healing process is really long and it takes your abdomen much longer to shrink up. However if that's your only choice then you got to do what is best for your baby.

I elected to have one the second time due to risk of repeat ruptured placenta which endangered both me and LO. As much as I wanted a vaginal delivery I was terrified at putting myself and baby at risk this time. Overall I'm so glad I did recivery has been much
Smoother this time and LO and I are both doing great
