Diva Cup Fail

Umm, yeah....so the Diva Cup wasn't intended for those with a heavy flow. I tried it again this morning and it leaked after just 1 hour, it was FULL. Mind you that today is day 2 of AF and day 1 is the worst, I was nervous to use it yesterday because I had to leave the house for an appt., thank goodness I didn't.

I am disappointed, I was hoping it would be the life changer that others have described.

1 hour!!!! My friend told me she is heavy and checks it at 4 hours. When I told her what happened she said it was insane. I think a lot of people think they have a heavy flow but I KNOW I have it really bad and it freaking sucks.

I don't know how others like me leave the house and function. I am scared to leave the house the first two days.

How many tampons would you have used? I can usually go about 1.5-2 hours with a heavy flow. With tampons I'm lucky to go an hour. Try taking some aleeve (naproxen) it usually slows my flow down. I still wear a pad with the cup the first 2 days of AF. I still prefer the cup over a tampon and it has saved me so much money.

Try a different cup. The large diva cup only holds 1 oz. as opposed to the large Yuuki which holds 1.83 oz. I think I'm going to try buying a large capacity brand.

ETA:

Start the aleeve a 1-2 days before your AF comes.

I know how you feel about a heavy flow. I hate it when I have to work the first few days and mine last forever, at least 10 days.

I've tried them before and wasn't a fan but the one I used wasn't the actual Diva Cup. I get big clots so I feel like the cup gets full quickly whereas the tampons keeps them up in there until I get to the bathroom.

It was never like this before my kids but I was also on BC pills. My mom said hers changed like this after she had me and my brothers, maybe I am just cursed. I really don't want to take the pill again at my age just to try to tame AF since DH is snipped. Blegh.

Maybe one of these things can help you.

Mine AF has also gotten worse after each kid. I hated BCP with a passion and would rather suffer through my AF. Sorry!

That's nuts and really sucks, JG. I will say, for the first couple of days I always have a pantyliner in as well as my DivaCup. But I'm guessing that even with a pad and the cup you'd still have issues. I'm sorry.

Have you tried Mirena? I flat out don't have a period with it. I spot for weeks when it first goes in and then I just don't have periods. I have heard it's a very common side effect. Maybe you might want to try that instead of the pill?

If you are done having kids (I read vasectomy) you could talk to your GYN about an ablation.... just a thought.
