9 weeks but look like 4 months....

I wasn't supermodel thin to begin with. When I put on weight it goes straight to my stomach and face. For months people have thought I was pregnant. Well now that I am, I have people arguing with me saying the dr is wrong there is no way I'm only 9 weeks I look like I'm 4 months. Once I started rounding in the tummy due to the stretching and firming of my uterus it made me look much bigger then I should be. Is anyone else dealing with this or am I alone in the fight?

Re: 9 weeks but look like 4 months....

  • Exactly the same as me. Before we started telling family, we went to my parents to play PlayStation while my brother was at work.  I was 7 weeks.  Brother got hone late just as hubby and I were leaving so we go to say hi. Later that week my mom called me to tell me that my brother told her I looked puffy around the middle like I was 4 months pregnant.  Well he was right about 1 thing.  We had to tell our parents/ in laws the next weekend.  That pretty much sealed the deal that I wouldn't be able to hide it like I had hoped.  And my stomachs gotten even bigger since! If I looked like 4 months then, a month later I'm sure I look like I'm 5 months pregnant.

    Duh!

But it doesn't help that we already had big flubbery bellies due to our body type. Gosh I'm even more jealous of girls that only gain weight in their thighs/butts now that before I was pregnant.  And I thought that was impossible.

  • I swear I'm showing. But i see it from the opposite view I'm typically pretty thin so I feel like my expanding midsection is more noticeable! Or maybe it's the twins. Or the bloat.

  • I don't care if you call it bloat, or bump or what-have-you.

I shall call mine Fred from now on!

Whatever you name it, I know mine wasn't there before! LOL and it is now, and there's no denying it!

LOL! I just don't get all the arguments that go on on these boards re: "I'm showing!" "No you're not, it's just bloat!" "Yes I am!" etc. Who cares?? If someone feels like they're showing, good for them! What's the big deal?

I am showing flubber and bloat. But I'm still "showing" my pregnancy. Is this really "showing"? Who cares!

  • Yeah I know I'm just bloated but it still makes me look more pregnant then I am. It wouldn't be annoying if people didn't want to say something about it all the time. I have one kid I'm not a complete moron. I know when I got pregnant. It's just so irritating.

Honestly we don't care. Bloat, bump, too many cheeseburgers... Really no one cares. That's why it always amazes me that at least once a day someone will come to these boards and ask the same question over and over again. "Am I showing?" And then they get their panties in a wad because we give them an honest answer that their bump is likely bloating due to the increased hormones in 1st trimester.

If you don't want the response, then don't ask the question.

  • My bloat lasted like 3 months with my first and second, i could have hid it for ages. With my 3rd, my bloat looked more pregnant shaped then bloat and this one! Whooo! People started staring at 8 weeks, as the bloat was much bigger. But it hasnt grown alot since then. 79or 10 weeks I still look 4 months pregnant.

Yeah, I totally agree with you about the specifics. I'm well aware that my uterus is behind my pubic bone, and the bump in my belly is not (directly, anyway) due to my expanding uterus. I saw this thread the other day (maybe the 1st tri board? I forget) where ppl were arguing semantics about what "showing" means and can you still say you're "showing" even if it's just showing bloat. That's the stuff I laugh at. Who the hell cares? Say what you want and quit arguing over it!

  • Same here!!  I'm 11 weeks, and ALL belly right now (well, and boobs.  But we aren't talking about the giganto girls of doom right now).  It's so noticeable!  I announced this week, so now I don't have to hide it anymore at least :D
