If you're giving water

When do you give it?  And how much?  And are you using sterile water or just straight from the tap?

DS seems to be having a really difficult time moving solids through his system, and I have really fatty milk, so I thought a little water might help to soften things up, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing here.  I'd ask my pedi, but we don't go back until March, and I'd rather ask you ladies.  TIA!

Re: If you're giving water

  • I let her sip some water when she has her solids. I started with sterile water but now I just use from the tap. I give it in a sippy cup so she gets practice. She doesn't have much.

  • I give her about an ounce after solid feedings. And I use bottled water.

  • Just enough water to coat the bottom of a cup and after solids.

We use tap but we are on well water.

But if we lived in the city I would use pitcher water that sat in the fridge for at least a day so the chlorine dissapates.

  • Tap water for florid in her sippy cup.

  • I give it when I give him solids, especially when he has chicken, I dont know why but i feel like chicken would make your mouth dry... he LOVES his sippy cup and gets so excited when I hand it to him. I put 5 oz of "nursery water" and he usually downs about 1-2 oz total though out the meal. My DR said he can have as much water as he wants.. so I give him his sippy cup through out the day.
