Yelling in the car

Is this an issue for anyone else?  It's usually not that big of a deal but with the snow and ice this morning my nerves are fried.

Both of the kids were screaming.  Not crying, but yelling for fun.  K is in that pterodactyl screeching phase and even if I tell J no yelling, inside voices he responds at the top of his lungs "NO YELLING IN THE CAR KAYLA! NO YELLING IN THE CAR KAYLA! NO YELLING IN THE CAR KAYLA!" followed by a blood-curling scream - which only makes her screech again.

I can usually distract them with toys, snacks, music, or even my singing but today it just wasn't happening.  I do DC drop off and pick up and I'm starting to dread it every day.

Re: Yelling in the car

  • Lol I'm sorry but I kinda had to laugh picturing that in my head!  I looooove the dinosaur screams but I guess it wouldn't be fun while driving in winter lol.  B and G are usually good in the car so I'm not real help.  When B does scream, G was say "SHHHH STOP!"  and then it'll be quiet lol.

  • J normally isn't bad, and we don't have snow here, but sometimes he gets loud when it is pouring and I cannot concentrate! Hopefully this afternoon will be better for you

  • That story made one of the veins in my head throb a little.  Yikes, I don't do well concentrating in loud environments, so that would not do well.  Have you tried a kid's CD.  DD will STFU to hear "Evie's radio" no matter how upset she is.

  • Okay, my LO is a little odd ball - she actually prefers total silence in the car - as in, she won't even "let" me listen to the radio. Occasionally she will allow a Veggie Tales CD, but that's it.

I do think that part of it is just a control thing, but also she does seem a little sensitive to stimulation and daycare is obviously not quiet so I think she likes the down time!

My next one will probably be a little pteradactyl!
