Potty training question

Getting Noah for potty training. He won?t tell me when he has to go just after he goes he tells me that he needs to be changed. (he in diaper/pull-ups) I let him run around the house with just pants on ? no diaper or pull-up and he stills goes in his pants. If I let him run around with no pants, undies, diapers or pull-ups on he realizes that he has to go and runs to the his potty. How do I get him to notice that he has to goes while wearing something?

Re: Potty training question

  • How long have you been trying to get him to go? It could just take more time. He has to realize it on his own, that's all you can do. Other than that, you can try taking him to the potty every 20 minutes or so, tell him to try to use it. If he can't then you let him up and wait another 20 minutes. When he goes in his underwear, tell him that he's not supposed to go in his underwear and that he's supposed to go in the potty. Then, take him to the potty and show him again. That's my advice. Good luck.

  • We had about three days of all accidents and ds yelling, "I peed!" Finally little by little he started saying he had to go. We have him in underwear and usually pajama pants or athletic pants.

  • When we started PTing, my son also did great when naked but had accidents when wearing clothing. It took him a few days one week tops of many accidents per day when it suddenly clicked. I think he kept forgetting that he was wearing underwear and not diapers at first, so I just kept reminding him. He also quickly learned that he did not like the feeling of wet pants. I think consistency with wearing underwear was key.
