Too much kicking?

Is there such a thing as too much kicking? I feel like LO is kicking me ALL the time! I don't mind it but everything I have read says that they sleep almost 14 hours a day. Just not sure if this is a good thing or not.

Re: Too much kicking?

  • Ditto - I have the same question.  All day yesterday at work, then all last night.  Maybe my 1.5c coffee is too much?

I've never heard of them kicking too much so I would say enjoy the fact that LO sleeps at night when you do :)

  • Same here!  He kicks all. the. time.  I'm starting to wonder if maybe half the kicks I feel are actually hiccups?

  • I have a lot of kicking too, nearly every hour I am awake.  I love the feeling! Yesterday at my 24 week appointment his heart sounded strong, so I am just hoping he is sleeping when I am, and I am sleeping abut 10 hours a night.

    Here's hoping!

  • This was happening to me since I started feeling kicks up until the weekend. I discovered chocolate (has caffein) and sugar in general were making her do somersaults. My co-worker scared me. She said too much caffein is linked to low birth weight. I have yet to ask my doctor about it but I stopped eating chocolate and am cutting back on my sugar intake. She's been kicking normally for a few days now (i.e., I'm not worried any more).

  • I was in a car crash around 24 weeks, so I had to go to OB emergency to be monitored. My baby kicks like craaazy all the time, and I just figured it was a good sign! The doc who examined me and watched her kick patterns was very, very impressed. She said that babies who kick a lot that early are "neurodevelopmentally way ahead of the curve." So, yay! Congrats on your genius baby. :)
  • I was worried about to much kicking due because of a seizure disorder I have. I was afraid my child may be having seizures. sometimes it feels like she's moving furniture in there!

But doctor says lots of kicks are good. I'm such a worry wart.  I'd love to think that all this movement means she's super smart! But who knows.
