Burping

This may be a dumb question but I'm a ftm.
How long are we supposed to burp our LO's? Not after a bottle, but until what age? 6 months? One year? I'm just curious.

    I'm a STM and really can't even remember, and it wasn't that long ago! I *think* around when they can sit up on their own, they usually don't need to be burped and can do it themselves.

    Our pediatrician said some cultures don't know what "burping" your baby even is, so they don't do it at all! He said at 2mos appt that DS was old enough to get burp out on his own now. I do often stand up with him after he eats, hold him upright and give some pressure, and sometimes he will burp, but don't usually truely burp him unless he is extra fussy.
    Anniversary DS was born 11/30/12... so in love :)
