So the dreaded day finally came, maternity leave is over and I'm back at work. Where I realize I'm blessed to have a wonderful job, I HATE leaving my Lo @ home
Does is get any easier ladies? Also I'm breastfeeding and pumping at work, I want to make sure she is getting enough food. Any techniques or tips on helping me produce more?? Thanks!!!
Re: Back at work
It will get easier--give it a month maybe.
Even though this is my second baby, and second time going back to work after maternity leave, I still had numerous breakdowns the first couple weeks and needed DH to mop me up off the floor and remind me that we did all this before and it gets better. It helps that I love our daycare provider so I know LO is getting great attention and as much love as a non-family member can give her!
For breastfeeding Id suggest getting as much sleep as you can (yes, sleep affects milk production), increase water intake and add oatmeal to your daily diet. Most importantly, DONT STRESS (its bad for milk supply!). If you are short a few ounces, formula is a fine supplement and you have not failed.
One more idea--I can sometimes capture two letdowns if i adjust my pump back to the faster suction speed after the initial letdown seems to be slowing up (kwim)?
