AW: Walking!!!

DS started walking this weekend!  I can't believe my baby boy is so big!  The best part.. man, this kid has an incredible sense of timing.. he started really walking (like, halfway across the room, whereas before he had only taken a couple of steps at a time) on Sunday in the middle of his birthday party.  So a lot of friends and family members got to witness him starting to walk, AND my brother was filming for us at that moment so he recorded it all!

DS was so proud of himself too.. he had the biggest grin on his face, it was so cute!

  • Cute!!  I tried dd with her walker this weekend and she was kind of scared.  I think she will need to build up some confidence before she thinks about taking any solo steps!

The walker is still Alexander's primary mode of transportation and it is definitely great for building confidence. Once he started really going with the walker (where he was pulling himself up on it steadily, too), he was taking solo steps without it in about a week. He does this crazy baby run with it now and laughs his head off but one of the funniest things that I've noticed is that he'll be running around with the walker, run into an obstacle like a playmat, and he picks up the whole walker, takes two unassisted steps while holding the walker off the ground and smashes the walker back down to continue on his way. The best thing about the walker is that he can never sneak away from me since that thing is nice and loud.

  • That is so exciting! It must have been nice for everyone to get to experience that moment, too.

How cute! DS is still at the point that he keeps ramming his walker into things when he hits an obstacle (like a wall). We have to go turn him around. He's started lifting his foot and looks like he's about to go solo, but then he'll turn back and rely on the walker/furniture he's balancing on.
