So disappointed with dinner...

I was so looking forward to the cornbread with honey, but completely forgot I hadn't bought pasteurized honey yet. Super sad face :

Maybe hubby will run out for some.

  • I say go for it... lots of people eat honey during pregnancy. The only caution I've heard is against raw honey, but there have been a lot of people that have eaten that, too.

I do most of our shopping at the farmers market, so I have the raw stuff. And I would rather eat plain buttered cornbread than take the chance. And DH isn't home yet.

  • I would bet if you heat it its ok. You can pasteurize eggs at home. I just don't know how heating honey impacts the honey...I don't really like it.

I understand the raw honey thing. While it's probably fine, I stopped buying raw when I got pg, too.

Just add extra butter... yummm :)

Oh my word, I hadn't even put two and two together that the farmer's market stuff would be raw.  I mean duh.  It just hadn't even occurred to me.  And I've been eating it.  I mean no sickness and baby seems fine but I'll probably stop now.  I just love local honey and I always buy it to help with my allergies!  I sure am glad that this post came up!

  • I have raw honey too, but I've just been eating it anyway. It's not like I'm eating it by the spoonfuls. I try to just heat it up in my eat first, instead of adding it after. I'm not too concerned.
    One DD born 9/23/13.
    We're one and done!
  • It's perfectly fine unless you're eating it in mass quantities every day
