? about Repeat C-Section

Do repeat c-sections have to be schedule before 40 weeks? If so is it more for a convenience or is it medically necessary?

    Mine have always been right after the 39 week mark, for same reason.  They'd really prefer you not to go into labor on your own, which just adds a complication and is tougher on you, too.  The closer you get to 40 weeks, the less likely they can "beat" that.  No reason to have it be a last-minute, emergency scramble!

    Pre-e w/DD #1 -- now age four! GD and PIH w/DD#2 -- now age two! GD and unexplained third trimester bleeding with baby # 3 -- due Feb 27!

    My current plan is to schedule it between 39 and 40 weeks, per my OB.  Last time we had it scheduled for 39w6d, but my water broke at 39w3d.  I measured a little ahead with her and am doing so with this one.

    DH and I have time to try and pick the date again, but right now, he's thinking right at 39w even, due to the day of the week it is.  Hopefully we'll make it that far before laboring this time.

    10/10: Married; 5/11: Dx: Blocked Fallopian Tube; 7/11: D&C/Hysteroscopy to remove polyp
    IVF #1: 9/11: ER: 12R, 11M, 10F, No Frosties; 5dt: 2 blasts, 1 morula; DD born 6/3/12
    IVF #2: 11/12-12/12: ER: 20R, 20M, 16F, 4 Frosties; 5dt: 3 blasts, DS born 8/9/13

    My doctors schedule them any time between 39-40 weeks barring any medical reason that would need it to be sooner.  No one seems too concerned about me going into labor ahead of time either.  Based on my first experience even if I did I think I'd make it into the OR long before the baby started to descend.

    Due to a perforated uterus from Mirena, I'll have to go in at 38 wks.

    I had 1 doctor tell me to schedule it for 39 weeks to avoid going into labor on my own.  DH and I didn't like the idea of picking baby's due date so we opted for 40 weeks.  DD came 3 days early.  I went into labor on my own, went to the hospital, and had the c-section.

    My doc will schedule anytime after I hit 39 weeks. I think we will scheduled for 39w5d and if I go into labor first, so be it. I was overdue with DS so I don't feel like this baby will be in a big hurry either.

     Same.  We are scheduled for 39w5d; DS came at 41w2d after being evicted via induction and ending in c-section.
