DH is working on starting a new business, and that has left things pretty tight for us. So I'm looking for tips on how to save money. I feel like the most controllable expense for us is our groceries, because we don't go out ever or buy things for ourselves. So especially, please share cheap meal ideas (even if they're not your favorite thing to eat

)

we try to limit all baby food and just give LO what we are eating even for snacks etc.. All those baby food, cereal bars, toddler snacks can add up. In addition to planning your menus try making meals that can transform to lunch then next day, like baking a whole chicken and maybe eating with veggies on day 1 and in shredded chicken tacos or salad sandwhich the next day

I meal plan and then coupon (saved $50 last week with coupons). I find tons of coupons online. I email companies for coupons too. My grocery store always has their own deals too and they have a rewards card with gas rewards (saved 0.20 a gallon today).
I buy a lot of generic items. My rule is that I will try any generic item once. If I don't like it, I don't buy it again, but at least I tried to save.
I am the only one allowed to touch the thermostat! DH likes the house hot and I like affordable bills. It is also programmed to go down to a cooler or warmer temp, depending on the season, when we are at work.
I conserve water too. I have a filler that hangs inside the tank of both toilets so they don't fill with so much water. I shower every other day and I bathe the girls twice a week (more in the summer months).
Sell unused items around the house. DH and I made $600 in one weekend selling stuff on Craigslist.

Make a lot of your food from scratch, It is normally cheaper. I make my own refried beans and taco and ranch seasonings, along with my own pizza dough, flour tortillas, and rolls. Here are some recipes.

I coupon and try store brands.
I shop at Bjs for things that are cheaper, like milk and eggs. I also buy thingslike paper towels, tp trash bags there, too.
I also make my own laundry soap. I'm gonna try homemade dishwasher tabs when I run out of our store bought.
