update: i got my Shade Clothing in the mail today

so im excited that the quality of my tops are great. i especially love how the chinos are made but i have an issue with the band. they said you don't need to order the next size up because it will work throughout your pregnancy. the chinos fit perfectly but the band is making me feel i should go the next size up because it fits pretty snug. but then again i think if i do go the next size up im still going to have an issue with the band.

this is my first time buying materinty clothes with this company. i have motherhood pants and old navy pants that are comfy but don't have this type of band on them.

just wanted to know if other people have these same type of pants and i shouldnt worry because the band will eventually stretch out and it wont be tight around my belly?

i will post pics. what do you think?

  • I'd go the next size up. As your belly expands more, your hips will too :) Plus they will probably shink a little in the wash :/ eek

  • Personally I think they will be fine. You want them a bit snug to hold them up. As you get bigger the band will go under your belly and if its not tight you are constantly pulling them back up as they feel like your belly is pushing them off. Obviously only you know how they feel so you'll have to use info like this to make the call though...

that is what i was thinking. this is my first time buying maternity clothes period, I'm just a little worry because they are snug right now and my tummy just feels they way when you try to fit into those tight jeans and you have a muffin top. thats what i feel like right now, a muffin top but its not stopping me from breathing. lol

  • Hi, I went up a size. The smaller felt too snug and since I was only 15w at the time I was afraid they would be super tight in a few months. Good luck!

since you went the next size up, did it fit throughout the rest of your pregnancy? thanks

  • I tried on a similar pair of jeans at a maternity store and had the same issue.  When I pulled my shirt down over my belly it created this unsightly roll of flab where it cut off my stomach. The pregnant lady working there said that they're made for later when you can wear the band more under your belly like PP said.  If they otherwise fit well (hips, butt, thighs) you may be okay to wear them later.
  • well since have i 45 days to return it maybe i will wait to see how they fit then when I'm a little over 5 months.

did you end up buying them? if so, did they last throughout your pregnancy? thanks

  • Oh, sorry.  I'm a FTM too.  I didn't buy them yet. Thought I'd wait a little while to decide on these vs. over-the-belly stretchy version.
