I get nothing!! No babble, no ma-ma or da-da, not even syllables, just a lot of raspberries, "PUH" and motor-boatin'! I know I shouldn't worry, but it would be nice if DS would even just attempt at saying something! I don't want him to grow up too fast but geez! Just a little recognition for being his Mama or Dada would be nice!

Re: Not even a babble.....
I do...that is what I don't get. I read to him, I sing to him, I pretty much look like a babbling idiot who just got out of a mental hospital whenever we go to the store or out well basically anywhere because I do nothing but talk to him! Trust me, this kid doesn't know what silence is when it comes to me and his caretakers. That is why I'm so baffled!!
Perhaps he's not hearing you to mimic your babbles. Good luck!
I really doubt this is that abnormal and I wouldn't worry. DD still mostly makes "ahh" sounds and other vowel sounds. I talk to her all the time too and make mama and dada sounds at her. I *think* she is starting to make a baa sounds but it seems to happen mostly when she is trying to resist taking a nap, lol. Check out the website healthychildren.org. It has lots of info on developmental milestones.
Also, a poster in the SAHM board who has a child with a speech disorder said that they really don't make referrals for early intervention until 18 months if a baby doesn't 4 vowel consonant combos--I think ma, da, ba, and ga or something like that are the ones they want you to be able to do.
I read that when they are working on motor developmental milestones, it's common to let other skills like language take the back seat.
