New Luvs BF diaper commercial

I don't usually watch commercials (we have a DVR) so this might not be a new commercial.

I thought the commercial was pretty clever -

It shows a mom breastfeeding at a restaurant with the baby under a cover and she is looking around to see if anyone is watching and the voice over says 1st child, then it shows her sitting at the table with a child, breastfeeding another baby in plain sight with no cover and says 2nd child. The message is suppose to be that experienced moms choose Luvs.

I have no plans to have another baby, but it made me think about what I would do differently if there were a next time. I ended up EPing for various reasons, but in those early days I just popped my boob out in front of whoever was in the room. (I think it made my inlaws uncomfortable haha). What would/did you do differently a second + go round?

Re: New Luvs BF diaper commercial

  • I would avoid giving a pacifier like my life depended on it! DS is hooked and weaning him off of it may be the death of me.

I will also be much more vigilant in the hospital and once we're home for help with BFing. DS never figured out how to latch properly and after 5weeks of EBFing with constant pain I threw in the towel.

  • I don't think I would do much different honestly. I think we did a fairly decent job. Smile

For sure, I will be more vocal on "my child is fine, just small. back off" to the doc. She was so worried that DD was/is so small but she has always been on target or ahead on every other developmental thing. Made me talk to a lactation consultant when there were no issues. Also gave me grief because DD was "so small" and I let her sleep too long at night. Next kid, I'm trusting my instincts more. I did a good job of it this time but going to not second guess myself so much next kid.

We dumped our first pedi because I felt like she was too busy telling us things to hear what we had to say.

  • I think we would have a lot less "stuff". I found half the stuff I thought I needed weren't all that necessary in actuality. I got rid of all that stuff pretty fast.

  • Had not seen that one but saw the other one where she basically packs up the whole house to go out.

I would not do anything different I did my best.

  • I would get more stuff secondhand and more neutral stuff in case the next one is a boy.

    Hope he enjoys pink rattles!
  • With DD2 I have cloth diapered and BFed for longer, and BFed anywhere LO has been hungry.  I babywear when we're out and about, too.  I think those three things are because I live in Seattle instead of Knoxville.  All 3 things feel like the norm and are much better supported here.  I have actually been less laid back, though.  I think it's because DD1 is rough around DD2 and makes me very stressed because she's a rather difficult kid.  With DD1 I was super-chill, but I find myself gasping at falls and such with this one, which I never did the first time around.

That's so funny. I feel like most STMs say they were much more laid back with their second. That is an interesting perspective.
